Last weekend I was in Toronto for the Downsview Reptile Expo hoping to find a Western Hognose Snake although the least expensive one was $275 so I was not about to spend that on a snake. Instead I ended up getting a Hybrid Garter Snake that was half Eastern Garter and half California Red-Sided Garter. The expo also had lots of Tarantulas, tons of Ball Pythons, Crested Geckos and some glowing Axolotls. Hands On Exotics also had a booth although there was no one I recognized. After the Expo we headed to the house of someone I know to see their salamander and newt set up and to get a Red-Spotted Newt that needed a good home. We then set off for the Ontario Science Centre and managed to see even more herptiles there.
As of today I have been voted as secretary of the Trent University Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society. In this position I will be organizing events for the society, some ideas I have include a salamander presentation by the Save the Salamanders conservation initiative, group hikes to the Peterborough Petroglyphs and even a bioblitz in the Trent wildlife sanctuary where the proposed arena is to be built. Hopefully in this group I will be able to meet like minded individuals and encourage people to care about wild animals and the habitats they depend on.
I'm Mac Marzolini and I created this blog for a variety of reasons, the first of course is to open a window into what is happening in my life (cause my grandmother reads this), but also to help myself catalogue some of my favorite photos from my many adventures.
